INFORMATION

From 1st April 2016, premises producing hazardous waste will no longer need to register with the Environment Agency as a producer of that waste. This initiative has been put in place in order to reduce the amount of red tape governing businesses. The following information will apply to businesses producing hazardous waste:

If you produce or store 500kg or more of hazardous waste per year you will NO LONGER need to register your premises with the Environment Agency from 1st April 2016.

  • You must continue to have a valid registration up until 1 April 2016.
  • These changes only apply to England. It does not affect premises in Wales who should continue to register with Natural Resources Wales.

Further regulatory changes relating to the use of SIC 2007 will apply, where SIC 2003 was previously accepted.

Further information on the changes implemented are available by clicking on the link below.
