Obtaining a Quotation

In order for us to provide a quotation, we simply need to gather a few pieces of information to allow us to assess your tank removal needs. Of course, please feel free to make an initial call as we can often give you a budget figure based on our experience.

With that information, we can gain an immediate picture of your requirements, and often get a quotation back to you very quickly. The quotation will set out the work required to remove your tank, along with details of any documentation that we’ll issue to you, authorities that will be notified by us and caveats that may be required.

THE TANK REMOVAL PROCESS

With a safe system of work in place and the correct equipment, we can carry out your tank removal safely and efficiently, often with minimal disruption to businesses or households and always with a great end result. Every tank removal job is different, that is why we’ll produce a tailored proposal and safe system of work to suit your needs.

All of our work is carried out by our own in-house team, we never subcontract our work and one of our team will be there to answer your questions both before, during and after the tank removal process.

Upon receipt of a purchase order, the process for your underground fuel tank removal will be looked after by our own team. We will contact your local petroleum licensing authority directly (if working with petrol), to inform them of the proposed work, and to submit the relevant documentation for approval.

As mentioned in our underground fuel tank cleaning section, we have the ability to ensure your fuel tanks are completely clean and gas free, prior to any underground fuel tank removal taking place.

If your underground tanks are being excavated, we use a network of accredited machine operators to excavate the tanks, whilst they remain under a gas free certificate and our direct supervision.

We operate a safe excavation policy when removing underground tanks, with no digging being undertaken until all underground services have been identified and isolated if required.

We also have the ability to carry out an underground fuel tank removal from hard to reach places, or when sites have been built on after the tanks were installed. Our cutting methods allow underground fuel tanks to be removed in pieces, vastly reducing the size of the excavation required.

Safety is paramount on our sites, we always ensure the area is securely fenced to prevent any unauthorised entry. Although underground fuel tank removal can be intrusive, we will always work tirelessly to ensure the impact on our client is minimal.

SERVICE FAQs

As you can imagine all underground tank removal jobs are different. Single smaller tanks can sometimes be cleaned and removed in a single day, however multiple tanks, particularly when set in concrete can take up to a week to remove.

If your tank has contained petrol, the local petroleum licensing authority should always be made aware of any proposed works. At JWH Tanks, part of the preparation work for any underground tank removal would be to submit our safe system of work to all stakeholders for the correct approvals.

If you are never going to use a tank again, removal is always the best option. Accompanied by some soil testing and ground validation, you can then rest assured that any future expense has been negated. Our team will always offer as much assistance as possible through the decision making process, giving you all the options to enable you to make an informed decision.
